How to Get to Amman

Before you leave for Jordan, the staff abroad will send you housing information. The Resident Coordinators will check your arrival information on your online application and inform your hosts accordingly.

If you are traveling from the US or Europe, you will most likely land in Queen Alia International Airport.  You will receive an arrival email shortly before your departure from the Resident Coordinators containing more information on airport arrivals.

The RCs will arrange an airport pickup for all students, regardless of what time they land. However, for students feeling adventurous, you can opt out of a taxi pickup and make your way to your host family or hotel on your own (just make sure to let the RCs know at least one week in advance). The convenient Airport Taxis cost about 22-27 JD (31-38 USD) (depending on the neighborhood to which you are traveling; possibly more during late night hours). This service is easy, reliable and safe. If you choose this option, you will need to use the directions provided by the on-site staff in your Host Family’s Profile (sent via email) They will aso be available by phone to help you find it (you can ask your driver to call local Jordanian numbers if necessary). There is also an Airport Express bus that runs every 30 minutes between 6:30am and 12pm, and costs about 3 JOD (4 USD). The trip from the airport to the bus terminal in central Amman usually takes from 45 minutes to an hour. Please take into account that the bus might run less frequently during the night and that it stops only at a few places from where you will have to take a taxi.  Once in Amman, you should not pay more than 3 to 4 JOD from the bus terminal to your homestay. School in Jordan staff will reimburse you for the trip from the airport to Amman.

If your flight arrives after 10PM, the staff will book you a hotel room and an airport pick up by default (unless you prefer to organize your own), and you can head to your homestay the next day. Resident staff will contact you about this, a couple of weeks before departure.
