This includes, but is not limited to, unwanted conduct of a sexual nature, or any intimidating or hostile acts directed toward any individual, regardless of his\/her association with the program. If you experience any type of sexual harassment, regardless of whether the offender has any relationship with our program, please notify your on-site staff immediately so they can develop an appropriate course of action on your behalf.<\/p>\n<p>Studying abroad may increase your risk of unwanted sexual contact.\u00a0 The Department of State has this to say: <a href=\"https:\/\/travel.state.gov\/content\/travel\/en\/international-travel\/before-you-go\/travelers-with-special-considerations\/women-travelers.html\">https:\/\/travel.state.gov\/content\/travel\/en\/international-travel\/before-you-go\/travelers-with-special-considerations\/women-travelers.html<\/a>.\u00a0 (Although the site addresses itself to women travelers, it contains information for everyone.)<\/p>\n<p>Our on-site staff is your primary resource for advice to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.middlebury.edu\/study-abroad\/health\/assault\/sexual_violence_guidelines\">keep yourself safe<\/a> and can also direct you to local support resources. We also have information by site (scroll for your site) to local laws as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.middlebury.edu\/schools-abroad\/health-safety\/sexual-harassment-assault\/resources\">local support resources<\/a> on our website (resources for Jordan, are located in the menu on the left of the linked-page). During Orientation Week, in Amman, there will be a specific session on Sexual Assault and Harassment<\/p>\n<p>To help protect yourself from sexual assault and harassment:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Do not accept the invitation to visit somebody unless you know him\/her well.<\/li>\n<li>Do not smile or smile back at men you pass by on the street.<\/li>\n<li>Move yourself to a crowded place if a person follows you.<\/li>\n<li>At night, be careful when walking around alone and avoid traveling by hired car by yourself;<\/li>\n<li>Never take a taxi or hired car if there is another passenger in the car already;<\/li>\n<li>Never take a taxi that is unregistered.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Middlebury supports an atmosphere of respect and does not tolerate any form of harassment, sexual or otherwise within the program.
