For security reasons, the School in Italy cannot accept mail or packages addressed to students. Please have all of your mail sent to your personal address in Florence.
We recommend that any letters containing important information be sent by certified mail or by a courier service (e.g., FedEx, DHL). Expect that a package will arrive in 15-30 days. There is no specific method to avoid paying Italian customs charges on packages sent from abroad. It is important that the sender be accurate when describing the contents and their value. It does not hurt to write the contents in Italian too. It is inadvisable to write “gift” on the package as this may delay it at Italian customs. If a package arrives when you are not home, the mail carrier will leave a receipt for the package that you can then pick up at the post office. When you collect your package, remember to bring a passport or other form of identification, as well as money to cover the Italian customs tax that will be charged.
