National Sun Yat-sen University

Middlebury in Taiwan is located at National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU), a national university offering undergraduate and graduate degrees specializing in Liberal Arts, Science, Social Science, Engineering, and Medicine. NSYSU is one of six national research universities in Taiwan. The university enrolls just over 10,000 students a year, split almost evenly among undergraduates and graduates.

NSYSU is located on the edge of Kaohsiung, the third largest city on Taiwan, adjacent to the Kaohsiung Harbor. The campus is nestled on the coast, against the hillside of Monkey Mountain (壽山) home to many Formosan Rock Macaques.
