Drugs and Alcohol

School in Japan students are forbidden from using any kind of recreational drug. Keep in mind that Japan has a hard-line policy against drug use: possession, receipt, use, or sale of drugs, including marijuana, will result in arrest. This could also lead to deportation, in which you could be barred from re-entry into Japan.

The legal age to consume alcohol is 20 years old in Japan, and that is also strictly enforced. Underage drinking is not seen as a serious offense. The School in Japan, however, expects students to uphold a high standard of conduct and refrain from drinking excessive amounts of alcohol. Anyone is more vulnerable when intoxicated, especially in an unfamiliar environment in a foreign country. Drinking may not carry the same legal penalties as the use of illegal drugs, but it can lead to risky decisions and dire circumstances.
