Course Registration

Registration for classes will take place in each country under the advisement of the staff in Argentina or Uruguay. At that time, more detailed information about studying at your host university will be given and specific questions will be addressed.  Some course descriptions are available online ahead of time; those that are not will often be available upon arrival in-country. You should be prepared to physically go to the university to look at the list of available courses in each Teatro Solis Estudiantesdepartment.  Keep in mind that courses offered change every semester, so you may have to adjust your choices after arrival.  Finally, it may not be possible to acquire course syllabi ahead of time. In these cases, students can expect to receive their syllabi during the first week of classes.

There is typically a 1-2 week add/drop period at the beginning of the semester. Students are encouraged to take advantage of this period to try out different courses, as well as to communicate with their advisors at their home institutions to determine which courses will best align with their academic needs. Once your schedule is finalized, it is a good idea to introduce yourself to your professor so that they know who you are. This can make asking for help easier later on the semester.

In general, students should try to take courses in no more than two different university carreras (degree programs). Argentinian and Uruguayan students only take classes (including their electives) in one degree program. To the extent that you are looking to “study like a local,” we strongly suggest you try to do the same.  You should not expect to be able to take courses in more than two facultades (students studying at the University of Buenos Aires may only study in one facultad).
