To fully immerse yourself, keep in mind that frequent communication with home can slow down your language progress and cultural adaptation. If your goal is maximum immersion, let your family and friends know that you may not always be available, and that frequent calls, emails, or messages could interfere with your learning experience and with your linguistic and cultural acquisition. If something has gone wrong, your family will be informed right away; otherwise, you can remind them that no news is good news.
