Phone
The telephone at the School in Spain office in Madrid is for the use of staff only. Students may not make nor receive telephone calls through this office, except in the case of an emergency.
The program strongly recommends that students purchase a Spanish SIM cards to use while they are in Spain. Both physical and eSIMs are available, although some phone providers do not offer eSIMs. Options are numerous and prices vary. More information will be provided in the orientation information students receive prior to arrival. Past students recommend contacting your phone provider to confirm that your phone is unlocked before arriving in Spain, and once you have arrived, buying a Spanish SIM card. If your phone is not unlocked, you will not be able to use it with a Spanish SIM.
If you need to make an international call, many students prefer to use WhatsApp or Facetime. International calls can also be made at many telephone centers, locutorios, which offer privacy when making your call. It is possible to dial directly and the connection is usually excellent (the country code for the U.S. is 001).
